Travel Awards for Medical Students

The School of Medicine offers a number of travel awards for medical students to attend conferences to present their own work. The maximum amount awarded per student to contribute towards the cost of registration or travel is £200.

How to apply for a Medical Student Travel Award

If you have had a poster or an abstract accepted by conference organisers, why not apply for a travel award? Applying for funding is quite simple, all you need to do is submit a request with a copy of your abstract and a confirmation letter from the conference organisors that you will be presenting to Dr. Laura Lightfoot l.d.lightfoot@dundee.ac.uk or to Dr. David Russell d.russell@dundee.ac.uk

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for a Medical Student Travel Award are quite simple:

  1. You must be registered with the University of Dundee for an undergraduate degree in the School of Medicine

  2. You may not have received a Medical Student Travel Award previously (students may only receive this award once)

  3. A copy of your abstract and a copy of acceptance to attend the conference should be enclosed in the application

Conditions of Payment

In order to receive the award, students must provide evidence of expenses (e.g. receipts for travel tickets purchased). In addition students are required to complete a non-staff expense form and to return it to Dr. Laura Lightfoot l.d.lightfoot@dundee.ac.uk or Dr. David Russell d.russell@dundee.ac.uk
